Broadband Workshops for Entrepreneurs (Part 2) are back at the Library!

Posted by Tracie Merrill, Library Board member on November 16, 2014

UPDATE!!!!- Nasa education coordinator to visit town with broadband specialists

For those of you who attended these workshops last time, Mr. Whicker and friends are hoping to meet with you to follow up on your progress and to continue to provide support and coordination.  If you didn’t attend last time and have a dream or thought of developing an on-line presence for your business, your crafts, your writing, or anything else, these people can get you pointed in the right direction.  It’s the goal of their grant to develop commerce and collaboration within small communities in Alaska and THEY WANT TO HELP YOU!!

Mr. Whicker is bringing the education coordinator from NASA to Seldovia so we can explore the idea of community collaboration with the school to develop some kind of really amazing project or partnership with NASA.  Other small Alaskan schools have been able to work on beta testing for NASA software, arial mapping with drones, and testing and measuring of earthquakes with new technology.  If you have a science side to you, please consider coming to meet this fellow.  You may be just the person we are looking for!

Digital workshops from 7 – 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, November 17 & 18th, at the Seldovia Public Library!

Whether you participated in the previous workshops or it’s your first time, you are invited to participate in a series of hands-on workshops to learn about producing digital materials and media as well as online (web) content. These workshops have something for everyone!

The previous workshop topics included:

  • making interactive e-books that include text, photos, audio and video
  • taking professional-looking photos of your creations
  • setting up an online shop, and taking mobile credit card payments

Whether you are a crafter, artist, author, entrepreneur, or just want to preserve family history or documents, these workshops are for you!

Sponsored by Connect Alaska and the Association of Alaska School Boards’ Consortium for Digital Learning.
