“Celebrating America’s Veterans” Video Teleconference

Posted by Cindy Mom, OWL IT Aide on November 7, 2013

Veterans Day

Join us at the Library on Wednesday, November 13 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for this live video teleconference in honor of Veterans’ Day.  This program is free and open to the public.

Program Description:

What is it like to be in the military? What is it like to fight in combat and to return home from war? What does it mean to have served your nation in its armed forces? Why is it important to continue to serve our nation even after returning from war? As we celebrate Veterans’ Day this year and we remember those who have fought and died for our country’s freedoms, take your study of the history of America in war to the veterans who fought in them. Ask these questions and more as you interact with who have served our nation in times of conflict and times of peace.  Our focus in this program will not be exploring the historic details of a specific war or battle in that war, but it will be to provide students the rare and important opportunity to speak directly with those who have served our country in its armed forces and served as veterans serving other returning veterans and learn first hand what that means.
