Pearl Harbor: Inside the Vault

Posted by Rosanna McInnes, Seldovia OWL Manager on May 30, 2013

Join us on Tuesday Evening at 6:45 p.m. on June 4th for a Live Video Teleconference from Honolulu Hawaii! Inside the Vault: The Curators Series is a program that allows students to view artifacts that are currently not on display. Fuchida’s bible, silverware off the USS ARIZONA, the Jitterbug trophy awarded at the “Battle of Bands” December 6, 1941, Admiral Kidd’s cup holder. These are a few of the incredible artifacts preserved from the event. Also on display are rare images from the 14th Naval District Historic Photo Collection. These photos illustrate the development of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese attack and the massive salvage operation that followed. A video showing the Arizona Memorial Museum Association’s Tom Freeman paintings which are currently not on display, is shown with a voice over interpretive lesson by the museum curator.Arizona
