Report on board workshop 4/26
Posted by Laura Haskins - Library Director on April 27, 2011
The library board lacked a quorum to hold their meeting last night but the three members who did attend held a workshop to review some of the information in their meeting packets.
No decisions could be made during the workshop, but the members did ask to have two matters, approval of the draft collection development policy and declaration of a board seat vacancy, sent out to the full board for enactment by email poll.
The workshop participants took a tour of the basement storeroom that is to be converted to part of the public portion of the library by adding a staircase from the current library room, and board members considered security, access and other operational issues to do with the planned expansion. The board members also expressed their interest in the city clerk’s proposal to clean up the building entry and agreed that they would entertain a proposal that the library help offset some of the costs of replacing the current rusting and rather damp outdoor dropbox with a through-wall unit.
The next board meeting was tentatively set for August 9, slightly later than the usual schedule, in order to accommodate summer travel plans.
