Help map our internet connection speeds

Posted by Laura Haskins - Library Director on March 31, 2009

Presenter Rich Greenfield, IT Policy manager with the Office of Information Technology Services at the University of Alaska Statewide, asked Alaskan librarians at this year’s conference of the Alaska Library Association to encourage community members throughout the state to participate in Alaska Speed Week, March 30 – April 5.

What do you have to do? It’s pretty simple: just use the survey link to participate anonymously in a connection speed test and place your location on the map. The participation does not track your identity, and you may participate no matter whether you use a dial-up or DSL or wireless connection (in fact, they want all types of connections).

Your participation and the data collected will help the campaign to get better internet service in the state. That’s worth a few moments of your time, isn’t it?

Thanks for your help.
