You’ve got wireless!

Posted by Laura Haskins - Library Director on March 15, 2008

If you come to the library, that is.

That’s right: our long-awaited wireless internet is up and running from 8 am to 10 pm every day, no matter whether the library is open or not. You may bring your laptop with you to work at the library. You can also use your laptop at city meetings or other events in the Multipurpose Room.

What else do you need to know? Read our wireless use policy first, to make sure you understand the rules and limitations of this service. And please try to charge your battery before coming in: we can’t provide extension cords and have very limited access to outlets.

And please share nicely. This is just one connection, so the more simultaneous users, the slower it is for everyone. We also have bandwidth limits, so big downloads or lengthy streaming may end up shutting this service down for all users. This wireless connection is for checking email, doing research, or handling the same sorts of online chores our library computer users are working on. Let’s keep this handy new service available for all of us, community members and visitors alike.
